Frequently Asked Questions

Registration is a two-step process. First, create a CMIMC account on our website by providing your username, email, full name, and a secure password. You'll also specify whether you're creating an account as a competitor or coach. After creating your account, you'll receive a verification email. Click the link to verify your email address. Once their account is verified, coaches can create a team through their dashboard and send invitations to their team members.

You can register either as an individual or as part of a team. CMIMC teams typically consist of 4-6 students, and CMWMC teams typically consist of 3 students. If you do not have a full team, you can opt in to team merging during registration. We will assist to merge you with other teams who have selected this option to make a full team.

We require every competitor to have an adult associated with them to register. A parent can create a coach account and create a team for you to join.

The planned schedules for CMIMC/CMWMC can be accessed under Competitions > CMIMC Math or Competitions > CMWMC once they are published.

We partner with a few local hotels to provide affordable rates for teams who need to travel to compete. Information about our hotel partners can be found linked on our homepage.

CMWMC is open to all high school students and younger, with a focus on competitors who are local to Western PA and surrounding regions. CMWMC is targeted to beginners and students who may have not had the opportunity to participate in many math competitions before, but all experience levels are welcome!

CMWMC is held every fall, typically in late October. CMWMC 2026 will be on Saturday, October 24th.

Yes, there is a modest registration fee to reduce the rate of no-shows and allow us to more efficiently plan for competition day. The CMWMC fee is $15 per team. Please contact us if you are not able to pay the registration fee.

We will provide lunch for all competitors during the competition.

Yes, all competitors will receive free CMWMC T-Shirts as a part of their registration fee!

Yes! We will have a guest speaker at the competition for the parents and coaches.

We will provide a space where parents and coaches can spend time during the competition. Parents and coaches can also use their time to take a guided campus tour, explore campus and the surrounding Pittsburgh area, or listen to a talk by our guest speaker.

CMIMC competitions are open to all high school students and younger from around the world. Competitions are run in a team format, but individual participants are also welcome. There are no prerequisites or qualifications required to participate.

CMIMC is held every spring, typically in late March. There has not been a date determined for CMIMC 2027; once a date is determined we will update this website with the most current information.

Yes! The link to place T-Shirt orders is located in the team dashboard. The deadline to place T-Shirt orders is usually a few weeks before competition day, so make sure to check the dashboard to see when orders are due.

Yes! In the past few years, we have had Professor Po-Shen Loh as a guest speaker at our CMIMC competitions. We have also additionally hosted other guest speakers and panels at CMIMC.

We will provide a space where parents and coaches can spend time during the competition. Parents and coaches can also use their time to take a guided campus tour, explore campus and the surrounding Pittsburgh area, or listen to a talk by our guest speaker.

The CMIMC team and our sponsors organize and host fun mini-events Friday night before competition. The events may include trading games, integration bees, or estimathons. These are optional, but highly recommended! Details about mini-events will be released as competition day approaches.
