Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about CMIMC competitions, registration, and participation.
Note:
This website is brand-new and still in progress! Some information will still be found on our existing site while we make the transition. All registration-related business will be handled through this site.
Who can participate in CMIMC?
CMIMC is open to all high school students and younger from around the world. Teams typically consist of 4-6 students, but individual participants are also welcome. There are no prerequisites or qualifications required to participate.
How do I register for the competitions?
Registration is a two-step process. First, create a CMIMC account on our website by providing your username, email, full name, and a secure password. You'll also specify whether you're registering as a competitor or coach. After creating your account, you'll receive a verification email. Click the link to verify your email address. Once verified, coaches can create a team through their dashboard and send invitations to their team members.
Is there a registration fee?
Yes, there is a modest registration fee to reduce the rate of no-shows and allow us to more efficiently plan for competition day. Details about registration fees will be sent through email at a future date.
Can I participate as an individual or do I need a team?
You can register either as an individual or as part of a team. Teams typically consist of 4-6 students. If you do not have a full team, you can opt in to team merging during registration. We will merge you with other teams who have selected this option to make a full team of 6.
How do I register as an individual if I do not have a coach?
We require every competitor to have an adult associated with them to register. A parent can create a coach account and create a team for you to join.
Will there be food provided at the competition?
We will provide lunch for all competitors during the competition.
How can I find the competition schedule?
The competition schedule will become available through the dashboard once the schedule is finalized.
Will there be a guest speaker at the competition?
Yes! Po-Shen Loh will be our guest speaker.
What are Mini-Events?
The CMIMC team and our sponsors organize and host fun mini-events the night before competition. The events may include board game socials, integration bees, or estimathons. These are optional, but highly recommended!
What will parents and coaches do during the competition?
We will provide a space where parents and coaches can spend time during the competition. Parents and coaches can also use their time to take a guided campus tour, explore campus and the surrounding Pittsburgh area, or listen to a talk by our guest speaker Po-Shen Loh.
