CMWMC
Our fall/winter beginner and local-focused competition.
Competition Schedule
The CMWMC 2025 schedule can be found at the link below. The CMWMC 2026 schedule is still tentative and may be subject to changes.
CMIMC 2026 Tentative ScheduleGeneral Rules
- A competitor may leave to use the restroom during the exam, but they must turn in their phone to a proctor to do so.
- No computational aids other than a writing utensil are allowed.
- Cheating Policy:
- If a competitor is caught cheating on an individual round, they will get a -X for that round, where X is the score of the highest scoring individual on that round.
- If a competitor is caught cheating on a team-based round, their team will get a -X for that round, where X is the score of the highest scoring team on that round.
- If a proctor has reasonable suspicion to believe that a competitor is cheating, the proctor reserves the right to declare cheating.
- Grading decisions can not be protested, but answer protests are welcome in the designated Discord channel.
Individual Round
The individual round will include a mix of questions from our 3 main topics: Algebra & Number Theory, Combinatorics, and Geometry.
- The individual round has 25 problems (and a tiebreaker) to be solved in 60 minutes.
- Harder/less-solved questions are worth more points.
- NO communication with anyone is allowed during the round.
Scoring & Tiebreakers
The tiebreaker question will ONLY be used as a tiebreaker. It will not actually add any points to your score.
- People who submitted ANY answer to a tiebreaker will automatically win ties over those who did not submit an answer.
- For those who submitted a tiebreaker answer, whoever is closer to the correct answer will win the tie.
- Among tied competitors who submitted the same tiebreaker answer (possibly blank), CMWMC will use an arbitrary tiebreaking method.
Guts Round
The guts round is a team round where the team works together to solve one set of problems at a time before turning in their answers to obtain the next set. Scoring is done in real-time so teams are able to see their accuracy and score.
- The guts round has 6 sets with 3 problems in each set.
- The guts round lasts for 75 minutes
- After completing a set of problems, one member from the team will turn in their answers to receive the next set of 3 problems
- Communication within each team is allowed, and team members are allowed to work together to solve the problems
Relay Round
The relay round is a team round where the team works together to solve problems in sequence. Each of the 3 team members receives a different problem, numbered 1 to 3. Each problem except the first requires the answer of the previous problem to solve it.
- The relay round has 4 sets with 3 problems in each set.
- Each set must be solved within a 10 minute time limit.
- A bonus is given if a correct final answer is submitted within a 6 minute time limit
- NO communication is allowed, except for passing your answer to the next teammate using the provided answer slips
